About

Adobe Edge Animate was first released on July 31, 2011 under the name of Edge, of which at that time, was considered to be the products official release name, however the future would tell a different story, as Adobe added on another name to the Edge name, to make it Edge Animate. Edge Animate is a tool form Adobe to assist developers of web animations using HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3. Edge Animate is not to take over for Flash, but is a tool for web designers and developers to draw upon to create rich and engaging content for their clients and or their own projects. Edge Animate allows its user to ability to manipulate nearly all elements on the Edge Stage, in a way that would take hours if not days to complete, and now with Adobe Edge Animate, you can complete a given project in minutes compared to doing everything yourself. Edge Animate does all the hard work for you, so that even the most novices of users, can come into the program, and design an animated website, with little or no hassle what so ever.

Development

According to the Adobe website here «,

Note: As of November 2015, Edge Animate is no longer being actively developed.
I do not understand why they would stop development, this tool is one of the best web animation tools to come out in quite a while. They are however working on a new Flash / Animate, called: Adobe Animate CC (Formerly known for 20 years as Adobe Flash), with the capabilities of outputting HTML5 web ready format, just like Edge Animate, of which will be released sometime in the coming months of 2016.

We will have to wait and see, if the Edge Animate community is going to embrace this new upgraded version of Adobe Animate CC.
